Google gave you a free business profile in their massive directory which helps Google show your business in the right search and map results.
Google wants you to add lots of details to your Google Business Profile. Accurate information about your business and frequent updates to your profile is one of your best local SEO tools.
When creating your profile, make sure your name, address, phone number, website, and hours of operation are the same as what shows on your website and other online profiles.
How do you update your profile now?
Having an up-to-date and accurate Google Business Profile can help you attract more customers and improve your online visibility. You can add posts, photos, videos, events, and more!
When Google My Business became Google Business Profile, the GMB app many of us used to update our profiles went away. I loved the Google My Business app – it let me add posts and photos on the fly.
The way you access your profile will take a little getting used to, but it’s actually quite easy!
Make sure you are signed in to your Google account. This is the Gmail account you created for your business and used to verify your profile. These instructions are for desktop or laptop (see my graphic above).
1. Do a Google search for your business name.
Scroll down to where you see “You manage this Business Profile” then click on the blue “View profile” button.
2. Click on Add update.
You can create new posts (just like on social media) with a caption and a photo. You can also add link your post to your website.
3. Add photos and videos.
Upload photos and video of your business, your staff, your products – anything that will help people know what you do and who you employ.
Keep your profile up-to-date
Having an up-to-date and accurate Google Business Profile can help you attract more customers and improve your online visibility. This will help people find and connect with your business.
The information in your Google Business Profile can also appear in Google Maps and Google Search results, making it easier for potential customers to find and contact your business.
Your Google Business Profile is your best local SEO strategy so add new posts and photos often!
(Updates may take some time to appear on Google and will show as pending approval or review. Just be patient and check back in a few hours to see your updates.)
