Tunnel of Trees in northern Michigan suffered some serious damage this past spring. The good news? Easy detours make it so you can still enjoy M-119!
There have been rumors that the Tunnel of Trees (M-119) is closed, but that’s not entirely true.
While the washouts are being repaired, there are only a few road closures between Harbor Springs and Cross Village.
Easy detours allow you to enjoy driving on the scenic Tunnel of Trees while seeing some cool new views along the way!
So, please don’t let a few detours stop you from enjoying one of Michigan’s most iconic drives.

Take it Slow on the Tunnel of Trees
The Tunnel of Trees road is a one-lane highway with no yellow center line.
M-119 from Harbor Springs to Cross Village is tight, curvy, and heavily shared with bicyclists and sightseers.
In fall, the traffic is slow and can often be bumper to bumper.
Large RVs and semi-trucks are discouraged.
