Your static HTML website was probably fine as an entry-level option, but now it’s time to grow your site and add more functionality. Do you know how to do that?
Or, do you have to call your web developer?
If you have an old HTML website, you are probably relying on a web designer to make updates for you.
If you site uses HTML, this is quite often the case because:
- HTML is not for the beginner; it’s not user-friendly.
- You need to know HTML code to add or edit content.
- Any new functionality requires that you add code yourself.
- Updates to the design mean you need to rewrite CSS.
Unless you actually know how to code HTML/CSS yourself, you will need to pay a web designer to edit content and add new functions. You have to pay a web developer for the smallest of changes.
And there’s a good chance your website doesn’t resize for mobile visitors. If I visit your site with my phone, do I have to pinch and zoom to see your content?
Mobile views have grown to more than 50% of your users. Your website has to resize for their device.
Time to Upgrade to WordPress
WordPress allows you to make changes yourself. The WordPress admin area that’s built into your website is really easy to understand, even for beginners.
WordPress is the most popular content management system (CMS) for building websites. It has become the industry standard for any size website for any size business.
This software helps you create, manage, and edit content on a website with ease. You don’t have to dig into the web code.
The best part of WordPress for any level user is the text editor. Updating your own web pages is very easy!
The editor itself looks very similar to any text editor you might use each day.
Adding New Websites Functions
You need new functions. This is where WordPress is far superior to a static HTML website!
WordPress has plugins that help you add to the functionality of your website. There are plugins for contact forms, photo galleries, testimonials, and ecommerce shops, just to name a few.
What if you need a contact form on your website?
- The old static HTML website would require coding and validation for what happens when someone clicks “submit” on a form.
- With WordPress, you just install a contact form plugin with easy setup.
If your business is retail and you’re ready to start selling on your website, WordPress has plugins for creating any size online shop. You can add products, manage stock, and process orders on your own.
(I’m not sure how you’d do that with HTML…)
Abuzz Creative Recommends WordPress
Your small static HTML website might be fine – if you have no intention of changing anything or updating on your own.
However, I will always recommend WordPress, even for the entry-level business.
WordPress gives YOU control of your website!
WordPress is always a better choice for my clients. They can manage their new website on their own and they can continue to build on their website as their business grows.
