Ten years as Abuzz Creative means ten years of collaboration and trust of amazing clients! I’m giving a heartfelt shoutout to everyone who’s been part of my story.
I am beyond grateful to each client, friend, and family member who’s trusted me, encouraged me, and helped shape my business over the past ten years.
My journey has been one of learning, growing, and evolving with the digital world. Your encouragement and belief in me has been the backbone of my success.
Ten Years as Abuzz Creative
This milestone wasn’t an easy one to reach. There have been bumps in the road – like a pandemic and a big move to provide caregiving for family – but I’m still here!
I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude.
From AlphaGeek to Abuzz Creative
For twelve years, I was an operating partner with AlphaGeek Web Design. In 2013, the partners chose to sell the business and I worked with the new owner briefly during the transition.
Upon my departure, I was required to honor an 18-month non-compete. I used the time to provide pet care and dog walking while learning about WordPress and social media marketing.
On November 11, 2014, I was free to launch Abuzz Creative. I won’t lie – I was afraid of what the future held for me.
However, I received three phone calls that very day from previous clients who were ready to hire me. My first day in business was spent providing project proposals and figuring out timelines for website projects.
My husband saw me crying at my desk that afternoon. He was relieved when he found out I was crying tears of joy.
“See? I knew you could do it.”
Ten Years as Abuzz Creative – Significant for a Business
Fast forward to ten years later and I continue to work with some amazing clients.
Reaching a ten-year milestone as a single owner business is a significant achievement when you consider the average survival rates of small businesses.
- First-Year Survival: Approximately 78.1% of small businesses survive their first year. (Chamber of Commerce)
- Five-Year Survival: About 50% of small businesses remain operational after five years. (Nerd Wallet)
- Ten-Year Survival: Only around 33% of small businesses continue to operate after ten years. (Nerd Wallet)
Another challenge is that the web design industry has traditionally been male-dominated. Thankfully, this is gradually changing as more women enter technology and design fields.
Thanks to support networks like Women Who Code and Girls Who Code, women are being encouraged to pursue careers in web design and related fields.
The Journey of Abuzz Creative
From a small idea to a decade-long journey, I’ve loved these ten years as Abuzz Creative.
To those of you who supported me through the ups and downs, early mornings, and endless brainstorms – thank you!
Stay tuned for what the future holds as I continue to grow and evolve.
