Promoting your business on social media is the best way to increase the visibility of your business. Do you find yourself struggling with writing new content?
Social media works, no matter the size business, and following a marketing strategy of posting regularly and consistently is most effective.
But… there are times when we struggle with what to post next, and that’s completely normal for all business owners.
I do have a few ideas that might help with your social media content!
Always share website content to drive more traffic
You have great content on your own website so share links to pages as a post on Facebook and LinkedIn. If you have a blog on your website, share a link every time you publish a new blog post. On Facebook and LinkedIn, link previews with your post image will appear automatically when you share your URL into the caption.
Build trust with a look behind-the-scenes
We do business with people we like so show us what your business and its people are really like. Share your daily operations so we can see the people behind your company.
Build more trust with client testimonials and reviews
We tend to read reviews before we purchase products or hire a business. Are your customers leaving reviews about your business on Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Facebook? Create separate posts on social media that highlight each review. Space review posts out so you’re not just posting review after review.
Engage people with live Facebook video and Instagram Reels
People love video and we are all guilty of spending hours watching short videos that are fun or educational. Facebook and Instagram give you the option to go live which is a fun way to engage your audience. The cool thing is, your followers are notified when you’re on the air broadcasting live!
Educate with useful tips or how-to videos
When you offer educational posts, you are now seen as a trustworthy resource. This helps bring value through education. What problems can you solve for people? What products do people have a hard time using or understanding? Share the answers to these problems as social media posts.
Use photos and videos to highlight products and services
People respond most to high quality images. People also retain what they learned in a short video longer than just seeing a photo or reading text. Share great quality photos and super short videos of your products and services with a great description in the caption.
Share industry news articles that matter to your followers
This is another great way to educate your followers about news in your industry. Just make sure it matters to them, not just you. Create a social media post with a link to the actual article. Make sure the link preview loads when sharing on Facebook or LinkedIn. Always give to credit to the website or author of the information you’re sharing.
Post about fun holidays that are relevant to your brand
I have a client that loves posts that focus on fun holidays that are relevant to their business. These posts get a lot of engagement and are quite often shared by followers. You can also save time by creating holiday posts weeks (or months) ahead of time and scheduling them in advance.

Showcase your employees to humanize your brand
Work with your team to see who would like to participate and then highlight them in their own post. You can share a nice headshot or a photo of them at work or volunteering in the community. You could use the popular Instagram hashtag #FeatureFriday then post about your staff on Fridays to get more reach on Instagram.
Trying to fill job openings? Share employee testimonials!
Ask your employees to give their point of view about your business. This will help job seekers see what it’s really like to work for your company.
Host a contest to boost engagements and increase followers
Everybody loves free stuff! You probably have some promotional swag laying around that you can give away in a contest. Or you might have a new product you need to promote so why not hold a contest and give one to a winner? Contests are a great way to create a buzz about your business!
Ask your followers questions in a post
People love it when you ask for their opinion or you let them know their feedback is important. Create posts that ask a question which will entice followers to take part in a conversation. Put your question in the caption area and create a great image that’s related to your question. Watch your engagement soar!
