SEO audits are great tools for fixing things you might have missed with your on-page optimization. I am quite happy with the 90/100 AIOSEO score I received for my Abuzz Creative website.
Since a 90/100 AIOSEO audit score is an “excellent” score, there’s no reason to try to reach a perfect 100.
In fact, sometimes getting from 90 to 100 can make a page worse.
SEO plugins may encourage another keyword mention, a particular phrase placement, a certain content length, or some other mechanical adjustment.
These recommendation might not improve your page for human visitors.
What a 90/100 SEO Score Means
AIOSEO’s score provides a checklist of your on-page optimization.
The break down of the 90/100 score is below.
Solid Foundations
- Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and keyword usage meet high-quality on-page standards.
Minor Gaps
- The missing 10 points can be minor recommendations such as specific internal links, extra schema markup, or readability tweaks.
- These may not be critical errors.
No Guarantee of Ranking #1
- A high score just means that the AIOSEO software likes your on-page optimization.
- There are other SEO audit tools for measuring off-page factors like backlinks, domain authority, or how your content competes against other sites.
For your website, I’d rather see a natural, locally specific, and genuinely useful page that scores 90.
If you score 100, it’s probably because you twisted the copy around to satisfy the AIOSEO plugin.
How to Use Your SEO Score
AIOSEO’s score is essentially a checklist score, not a Google ranking score.
I’d use your AIOSEO score like this:
- Below 70: Look at your content, you might have missed something useful.
- 70 – 85: Pretty good, but check the recommendations in your audit.
- 85 – 95: Excellent. Fix anything that improves your page, then move on.
- 95 – 100: Great, but make sure your content is for humans, not just algorithms.
There’s no reason to make yourself crazy chasing 100.
However, the AIOSEO audit is a great tool for fixing things you might have missed in your SEO.
SEO Focus
For your website, focus more on whether your pages:
- Clearly communicate what you do and your service area
- Match what potential clients are actually searching for
- Are formatted with strong titles, meta description, H1-H6 headings, internal links, useful images/alt text, and solid technical SEO
- Demonstrates your expertise and years of real-world experience
- Answers the questions prospective clients are asking
- Supports your Google Business Profile and local relevance
- Is being indexed and actually earning impressions/clicks in Search Console
- Is structured so Google and AI systems can easily understand who you are, what you do, and where you do it
And there’s another important distinction…
AIOSEO Analyzer tells you whether you’ve followed AIOSEO’s recommendations.
Google Search Console tells you whether your SEO is actually working.
So, instead of trying to turn a 90 into a 100 score, focus on:
- Creating useful Northern Michigan-focused articles
- Strengthening internal links
- Improving your service pages
- Adding FAQs based on real client questions
- Reviewing Search Console for opportunities
SEO Score 90/100? Call it good and move on!
The best SEO is creating more fresh content that’s helpful for humans and search engines.
So, do more of that!
