Every business website I build has a different purpose for my clients. I create simple online brochure sites to robust ecommerce websites for selling products online.
While each business has a different goal, every website needs four important elements, no matter the site’s purpose.
1. Optimized Content
Every website needs to be created from the beginning with search engine optimization in mind. SEO should never be an afterthought – it’s an integral part of website development.
Your website content needs to be optimized so your business will appear in search engines like Google.
2. Mobile-Friendly Responsive Design
More website visits are from a mobile device now. That means your website has to resize automatically for their phone or tablet. This is called Responsive Design, and every website needs to be using it.
You will lose visitors if your site is only for desktop computers. I was just on a website this morning that required me to pinch and zoom – bye bye!
3. User-Friendly Design
Your website’s layout and navigation has to help people find what they’re looking for without getting frustrated. Clean, clear, and concise design wins every time!
Your site menu needs to be visible on every page, and the same on every page.
4. Contact Information
Every website needs a menu link that clearly states Contact or Contact Us. The Contact page should include phone, address, and an email link.
You can add a contact form if you’d rather hide your email address, but mobile users prefer an email link instead of having to fill out a form on their phone.
Do You Have These Four Website Elements?
Take the time to make sure your website has these four important web elements.
You will improve the user experience on your website while increasing your potential ranking on Google.
