Your business or organization needs to be on social media. However, not every social media channel is a good fit for every business.
If you are just getting started, you might be asking:
“Which social media platforms should my business be using?”
You are not alone! We’ve all asked ourselves the same question. I remember pondering this same thing way back when.
Initially, I tried them all. Then I started analyzing which channel was the best for my B2B approach. After years of measuring, I was able to determine where I can reach my target audience.
I narrowed a list down to what I feel are the five best social platforms for marketing, and in order of what works best for my company:
- Pinterest*
*Pinterest used to be a hobbyist’s paradise, but the platform is being discovered by more businesses, especially those in retail. It’s a great platform for e-commerce and for building brand awareness, but can pose a challenge if you have a B2B focus.
Invest your time on the platforms where you are most likely to reach and engage with your target audience. Measure what works and what doesn’t. This will ensure that your marketing efforts are successful.
Why not do just one really well?
Posting on all social media platforms just because you think you’re supposed to really won’t get you anywhere.
You’re better off having one really good social media channel to start instead of having four or five neglected profiles.
Develop your brand and your voice, create a solid strategy, then post regularly and respond to messages and comments promptly.
You can easily build a following by focusing on the right social media platform for you, even if it’s just one!
