Statistics show that 50% of small businesses still do not have their own domain name and website which is very surprising to us. Consumers expect companies to have websites today. What’s your excuse for not having a website?
People trust your business more if you have a professional user-friendly website. If you’re making excuses for not having a website, how can your business be competitive because people can’t find you?
Excuse #1 – “My business doesn’t need a website.”
We have to disagree on this one. 84% of American adults use the Internet daily and 96% of Americans ages 18-49 are connected to the Internet. People tend to search online in the evening when your business is probably closed. If your business had a website, you could still be open or generating leads after hours. Websites never take a break.
Excuse #2 – “My business uses social media.”
Having a social media presence as part of an online marketing plan is great! Ideally, your business should have a website in addition to your social media presence. Social media works best when your posts link to your own “evergreen” content on your website, meaning content is always there. Social media content has a short lifespan in the news feed, plus you’re competing with a lot of noise (especially on Facebook). You can control, customize and develop your own website content; you do not have ownership or control over your social media channels.
Excuse #3 – “A website is too expensive.”
Wrong! There are affordable options when working with a website firm. Do a little bit of homework, ask for proposals and you might be surprised at how much you can afford. A professional website will give your business the right first impression and will help build confidence in your organization.
There is no excuse for not having a website, especially when it comes to credibility. By not having a website, you are losing business and you are losing leads. Customers are searching for your service or products online. Your website is the most important marketing piece you own for getting found and converting online leads to customers.
