Web Design FAQs from Abuzz Creative

These are the most common questions people ask about web design, website development, SEO, Google My Business, and Social Media Marketing. Your head is probably buzzing with your own questions so please feel free to email me!

How do I find an affordable web designer?

Look for a company that has very low overhead and does not require a fancy office. As a smaller marketing agency, I have taken on fewer operating expenses and am able to offer services to you that are much more affordable than most of my competitors. Get proposals from your local web designers so you can compare costs.

How much does a new website cost?

Website design quotes are based on the size of your project and the functionality of each individual project. Entry level websites start at $1,250 and larger business websites are in the $2,000 to $5,000 range. Project pricing can be found on my website so you will know your costs up front. Please get quotes from multiple web designers so you can compare pricing and services.

What are the monthly fees for a website?

I do not charge a monthly fee. I charge a one-time project fee to design and build your website. There are no monthly charges to access your own website.

How is the cost of a new website determined?

My websites are quoted as a fixed fee project, not by the hour, so you know the cost before we begin. Web design plans are based on the size of the website and number of pages, as well as the complexity and functionality. There is an additional charge for ecommerce websites. Search engine optimization (SEO) is included in each new website developed. Pricing can be found on my website so you know your costs up front.

Why do you only create WordPress websites?

WordPress is the industry standard for content management systems and has the largest network of developers and support available. WordPress now powers more than 37% of the web. WordPress is flexible, secure, and easy to learn. WordPress is the best choice for a user friendly interface that you can easily manage.

Do you outsource your website design work?

I do not outsource any of my projects. I only take on what I can handle. In the more than 20 years I’ve been designing websites, I have never outsourced any of my work to another company, or to freelancers out of state or abroad.

Who will update my website when it's finished?

I build websites that my clients can manage if they choose to. WordPress websites give you the ability to take control of your new website. I do provide hands on training so you can easily manage and update content on your new website. I also have a few clients that prefer to have me update their websites for them. I charge an rate of $80/hour and bill in 30-minute increments.

Do I need a website that’s mobile friendly?

Yes, especially since Google is focused on mobile first. Websites I develop are fully responsive and look great on all devices. There is no charge extra for a mobile friendly website – it now comes standard with your website. One website. All devices.

Where should my website be hosted?

WordPress need a Linux server with PHP 7 capabilities. I am a reseller of CenturyLink hosting and my plans easily support these requirements. My preference is to manage your hosting with my reseller plan. This makes it much more affordable and offers far more services for the price. However, you are not obligated to host with me. If you prefer your own third party host such as GoDaddy, I might be able to work within your parameters; I just won’t have as much control when it comes to control panel settings and timely support.

What payment options do you offer for website projects?

I accept checks as well as online payments with a credit card. All website projects require a down payment to start which is typically 50% with the final 50% payment due before new website launch. If the scope of a project is larger, I will break payments into three installments of 40%|30%|30%.

What is search engine optimization?

SEO is how to maximize the number of visitors to your website by ensuring that your site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine. I use techniques that make your website authoritative and credible in the eyes of search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo). Your website needs to be easy to find in a potential customer’s search results.

Will my website be optimized for the search engines?

Yes, I develop all websites with search engine optimization techniques for today’s web. It’s my obligation to my clients to make sure websites are visible online. Websites are 100% SEO friendly.
