What does a hashtag do?
Whenever you add a hashtag to your post, that word can be indexed by that social network (Facebook, Instagram). Your hashtag becomes searchable and can be found by other users.
If you click on a hashtag, you will see a page that shows all of the posts with that same hashtag, in real-time.
