I’m scrolling through my social media feed and I see a musician friend post that they’re performing tonight. I’m excited because they’re performing at my favorite venue and I don’t have anything going on!
But wait. Their post is from three days ago. That means I missed their gig!
Feeds are not in date and time order
When posting to social media, remember that our news feeds are never in chronological order. When we scroll through our Facebook and Instagram, we might be seeing posts that are days old. This is true on LinkedIn as well.
Add the date and time – always!
- When you are promoting a sale or an event on social media, share your posts a few days ahead.
- Include the real date and time in your post caption.
- Create events on Facebook, invite people, and share the event link in advance.
Don’t post today and say “Event today” – we’ll be sad when we see your post days later and find out that we missed all the fun!
