Nothing beats the freedom and flexibility of being my own boss, and taking time off in the summer to do whatever I want is, well, glorious!
Americans. We work way too many hours. We take less vacation time. We feel guilty when we take time off.
It wasn’t too long ago that my work habits were causing me to be extremely ill. The stress of working too many hours and getting only two or three hours of sleep a night was what led me to being sick all the time.
Well, I decided that I matter enough to enjoy some time off this summer. I have earned it.
Summers in northern Michigan are short, and I just can’t let the best time of the year fly by too quickly.
Abuzz Creative Summer Hours

Time With Loved Ones!
Time off this summer isn’t just for me – it’s for my husband, too.
Work is important, but so is my relationship with Eric. Quality time together is crucial for keeping emotional connections strong and making more memories together.
My husband Eric is retired and spends most days caring for his father. He needs some time off to do fun things, too. We can go on adventures in the Jeep, set up the tent in our woods, sit at our favorite inland lake and swim with our dog for hours.
Take a Break and Rejuvenate!
For creatives like me, giving my brain a break actually helps promote new ideas.
I love to sit quietly on a sandy beach and read. I love to float in Lake Michigan and let my mind wander.
For me, reading and floating increases creative thoughts and new ideas.
Fall always gets incredibly busy for me. This year, I know I will be refreshed and ready to take on new challenges.
Happy Summer!
