I see lots of northern Michigan business owners dedicating all of their marketing efforts to posting on social media. What about your website – are you updating that, too?
My pet peeve is following a website link only to find that the company’s website content has never been updated or, worse yet, the site is still under construction.
(Helpful Tip: Never launch a website that’s nowhere near being done!)
The Importance of Your Website
Your website is your online home. For many of us, it’s our first impression of you and your brand. Your website shows us the legitimacy of your company.
When you provide us with links to your website, we expect that site to be up-to-date.
Your website should be the place where we can find your products and services, and your events and news.
So, what does your website say about your business?
Social Media is Secondary
I see lots of business owners posting on Facebook. With the changes Facebook has made to their algorithm, it’s harder for a business to be seen by followers.
All that work for very little reward.
Why not split your time between building great website content and then adding posts on social media?
Digital Marketing Strategy
Your digital marketing strategy should focus on having:
- an updated professional website;
- regularly updated social media.
In that order!
Create great website content and use social media to get people there. This is the best way to gain new customers!
