In June 2014, Google launched the Google My Business platform to focus on what their users were already doing – searching for local products and services.
By April 2019, Google started shutting down Google+ which was a failed social media network. Google realized they could not compete with social networks like Facebook and Instagram in the same way.
Google My Business was designed to make it easier for local businesses like yours to be found on Google. Your Google My Business profile will add your business information to Google Search and Google Maps.
Google My Business Adds Features
In 2019, Google added more new features to Google My Business profiles:
- Posts – Similar to your blog
- Questions & Answers – Users can answer publicly
- Messaging – Similar to Facebook Messenger
- Appointments – People can book appointments on a listing
We should see even more features added to profiles as the platform continues to grow.
In a way, Google My Business is turning into a social network of its own, but with even more benefits for your company such as placement in Google Search and Google Maps.
Set aside time to manage your Google My Business listing. It’s more important than you may think!
